I happened upon Infernal Decadence on YouTube, via autoplay after Dödsrit (and you should check them out if not familiar with them). Thanks, YouTube! Fell in love with Spectral Wound after that. It’s everything I love about black metal: atmosphere, riffs, vocals. Along with Ad Noctem Funeriis, this band manages a fresh take on the 2nd wave without trying to reinvent the wheel, or just relying on mimicry and worship. Frosty Bear

Through the ether, a black metal boy showed me “Swordsman”. I was astonished at the mix of shoe-gaze and black metal. The album’s atmosphere is heavy, dark like night. Words cannot describe. Sultry in its romance, there is a sense of melancholic limerance. It allows a soundscape similar to Burzum’s ambient but with a deep electric guitar. Ugh it hurts so well. posion_princess
